Boston Globe's Scot Lehigh: Voters Can Do the Entire State A Favor By Voting for Mara Dolan

The Boston Globe’s Scot Lehigh has long been known for his rapier wit and razor-sharp insights, a vocabulary to make one brush the dust off their Oxford English Dictionary, and a sometimes painfully keen eye on Massachusetts politics. Reader, I yelped with delight when I read his latest. I know you won’t want to miss it.

Voters in District 3 Can Do the Entire State A Favor By Casting Their Primary Ballots for Mara Dolan

We have less than a week to go, and momentum continues to build. I am bursting at the seems to announce more endorsements, but I had to make sure you saw this Scot Lehigh column, so I jumped the line.

Come join us on Primary Day at our Election Watch Party! We’ll be right in downtown Concord, at Main Streets Cafe, 42 Main Street, Concord. We have reserved the whole place to ourselves! The party starts at 7:00 p.m., but I’ll be greeting voters at my polling place right up the street until the polls close at 8:00 p.m.

My spectacular campaign director, Christina Knowles, will write you very, very soon with more info about our Election Watch Party and, even more important, all the information you need on how you can help us Get Out the Vote (GOTV) in this last crucial week of the campaign.

Now on a tougher note, some facts that must be shared. I debated the incumbent last night at a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts. The debate took place on Zoom and, just as she did at our last debate, the incumbent made a false statement at the end when I did not have a chance to respond. But this time it wasn’t about me. This time it was about Congressman Jim McGovern, who she falsely claimed endorsed her. I knew that was not true, so reached out to Congressman McGovern’s office to confirm. They confirmed that, and also that they had asked the incumbent to remove Congressman McGovern’s name from her website where she falsely lists him as an endorser, but that she has not done that. They also asked me to share this with anyone who might be interested. This forum will air on local cable stations. It is important that the facts be known, so I am sharing them.

It was great to see my endorser, Senator Will Brownsberger after the forum last night. For those of you who don’t know, Senator Brownsberger was Senate Judiciary Chair when we passed our landmark criminal justice reform bill in 2016. I see the fruits of his work every day as a public defender. I am incredibly proud and grateful to have his support.

Thanks to everyone who is working to reach out to their networks, spread the word, and grow our base. I continue to be amazed at the power of the activists and organizers who so quickly built the foundation that has made where we are today possible. Every day on this campaign is absolutely wonderful. The wind is at our backs, momentum continues to grow and, with your support, we will win.

Take Care,

Mara
