Toiling in Obscurity No More, the Governor's Council is HOT! More Big Endorsements, and Debate Watch Parties!

Folks are catching on to the importance of the Governor’s Council, and the enormous power it wields. It’s time for our judicial branch to reflect the will of the people, and right now we are painfully far away. We incarcerate people of color at 7-9x the rate of Whites, and we have the highest Latino incarceration rate in the country. You’ve seen me educate voters throughout this campaign with some shocking numbers, raising awareness, and empowering people with the facts. That’s what democracy is all about. Once people know about the work of the Governor’s Council, they can’t turn away. Both GBH and WBUR recently hosted debates for the candidates for Lieutenant Governor, and both questioned the candidates at length about the Governor’s Council. Citizens for Juvenile Justice recently highlighted the Council in a forum for voters. We toil in obscurity no more. The Governor’s Council is HOT!

The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts just published their Voters’ Guide. It’s a fantastic resource for voters. You can see my answers to their questionnaire, and check out candidates for others races too. My opponent has not submitted answers, but I’m still glad to have the opportunity to post mine. This week I was a guest on Boston Red Cloaks Radio for a terrific discussion about holding judges accountable, making our justice system reflect the will of the people, how the Governor’s Council has the power to fix it, and how I would have stopped the recent confirmation of anti-choice judge to our Superior Courts.

Endorsement Alert: Mike Moran
Endorsement Alert: Steve Grossman

Steve Grossman needs no introduction. He has distinguished himself as an extraordinary public servant and a dedicated Democrat who always stands strong for our communities and our shared values. He said, "The Council has never had a full-time public defender. We badly need Mara's perspective and insights to ensure superb judicial appointments." I am incredibly honored to have earned his endorsement.

Assistant Majority Leader Mike Moran has represented Allston, Brighton, Brookline since 2005. He said, "Mara Dolan has proven herself to be a true fighter for justice. That's exactly what we need on the Governor's Council." Rep. Moran's constituents trust him, and so I know how much his endorsement will mean to voters. I am very grateful and proud to have his endorsement.

Image of Zoom Meet and Greet

We are meeting people all over the district every day, in person and on Zoom. Brian and Alma Hart, along with State Rep. Ken Gordon, hosted one for me this week for folks in Bedford. Thanks to great supporters like you, the Governor’s Council is getting on everyone’s radar.

Lawn signs continue to spring up all over the district! Here's my great supporter in Brookline, J. Archer O'Reilly, III. Get yours by emailing me at Mara@MaraDolan.com. We’re asking for a $10 donation to cover the cost if you can, but no worries if you can’t. I am very grateful for all the requests for lawn signs, and very thankful to my super volunteers Gary Davis and Isaac Kaufer for delivering them all over the district.

I don’t worry about voters who know about this race. I only worry about voters who don’t. Please DONATE today, to make sure we reach as many voters as we can by September 6th. Your contribution will go a very long way in the fight for justice, and to change those numbers I posted at the top of this letter. Massachusetts is capable of so much more, and with your help we will get there. Thank you kindly for all your support!

Take Care,

Mara
